Is it an emergency?

The South Western Ambulance Service are experiencing high call numbers to their service. This is impacting on getting the service to those who really need it.

Please only call 999 in a serious, life-threatening emergency. If you feel you should need urgent medical advice, then you should call 111 or visit NHS 111 Online. NHS 111 call handlers will be able to advise you on what service you need or even be able to book you into A&E to avoid those lengthy delays.

If you do have the need to call for an ambulance then please do not call again to seek an answer for it's time of arrival unless the patients condition worsens or you no longer need the ambulance, calling the service back for any other reason only causes more delays to the already stretched service and call handlers must prioritise speaking to those patients that are most seriously injured and unwell.
